NEW YORK—There is a lot of Alexander McQueen at The Museum at FIT. While the selection of McQueen designs doesn’t quite rival those featured recently in the Metropolitan Museum’s “Savage Beauty” exhibit, the artful creations included in “Daphne Guinness” are certainly show-worthy.

Guinness, who was a close friend of McQueen, is a collector of couture and considered a style icon. In addition to McQueen, the exhibition includes inspiring looks from her wardrobe by Chanel, Christian Dior, Givenchy, Valentino, Christian Lacroix, Azzedine Alaia, Rick Owens and emerging British designer Gareth Pugh, among others. According to the exhibit copy, Guinness believes in dressing like every day is an event. Arranged in categories such as Sparkle, Chic and Armor, the ensembles make clear that she leads an eventful life.
