Ruben Toledo’s Fashion Illustrations Grace the Elevators at Treasure & Bond

NEW YORK—Taking the elevator to the second floor of Treasure & Bond is a delightful experience. Intriguing black-and-white works by renowned fashion illustrator Ruben Toledo grace the doors of the elevators on both floors of the Nordstrom concept store.

Toledo’s signature aesthetic is immediately recognizable. The illustrations are light-hearted and fashion forward, depicting a diverse group women with sculptural features and a trio of levitating style mavens.

In addition to countless magazines, Toledo’s fashion illustrations appear in Nordstrom’s Designer Collections ads and catalogues. He has also designed China for the retailer. Other collaborations include Penguin Classic Books, Louis Vuitton and Barneys, where his wife, fashion designer Isabel Toleda, sells her collection. In March, the couple will publish “Roots of Style: Weaving Together Life, Love, and Fashion.”

Treasure & Bond, which opened last year in Soho, marries retail and philanthropy. The store says it donates net profits to benefit children’s charities in New York.
