MIAMI—During Art Basel Miami Beach, the Rubbell Family Collection welcomed visitors to explore two new exhibits—a special presentation of work by Oscar Murillo, the Rubell collection’s first-ever artist in residence, and “Alone Together,” its annual show featuring 31 artists.
“Oscar Murillo: work” showcases a series of five paintings Murillo made during a five-week summer residency at the collection. The canvases are a lively, abstract mix of color, numbers and words. (Murillo chose to incorporate terms such as “mango,” “chorizo” and “yoga” for their social implications and associations.) The exhibit is the Colombian-born, London-based artist’s first show in the United States.
Both “Alone Together” and “Oscar Murillo: work” are on view from Dec. 5, 2012 to Aug. 2, 2013.
