Easter Day Parade: Festive Toppers on Fifth Avenue

NEW YORK — A festive crowd paraded up Fifth Avenue today donning elaborate Easter bonnets. The Easter Day Parade is a sort of free-for-all. There is no formal procession. Rather, everyone congregates and mills about up and down the avenue—and there is a lot of picture taking.

The Milliners Guild, an organization of small business owners who design, make and sell hats, made its annual appearance. Guild members were among the most dapper, pairing their artful toppers with equally charming vintage and spring ensembles. But there were plenty of amateurs in fabulous hats making stylish statements too. Three young women in the crowd were particularly charming.
