NEW YORK—Arts Observer finally saw Glenn Ligon’s “America” at The Whitney. Provocative on the inside and out, the survey of text-based art dating to the 1980s to recent neon explorations is a must-see. Ligon’s work is insightful and visionary, both from a creative standpoint and in terms of its socio-political commentary on race and masculinity in America. The show runs from March 10 to June 5, 2011.
