‘Design’ Auction at Phillips de Pury Features Rare Lighting

NEW YORK—Phillips de Pury’s Design department is having a couple of auctions this week—“Design” and “Design Masters.” Furniture, lighting and distinct home accessories from the “Design” sale have been on exhibit in Chelsea since Dec. 7. Today is the last day to view the rare items before the Dec. 14 auction.

The lighting stands out among the 152 lots. A pair of mid-century Gio Ponti ceiling fixtures are like an illuminated installation and several of the pendant lights are essentially hanging sculptures.
